JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, training, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission and core values of Wye Hill Kitchen & Brewing.
  • Ensure that all restaurant policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs are followed and completed on a timely basis.  
  • Organize and direct worker training programs, resolve personnel problems, make hiring and termination decisions, and evaluate employee performance.
  • Develop, implement and document structures for the Human Resources at Wye Hill, including refining job descriptions, onboarding/training, staff development, and staff escalations.  
  • Supports Hiring & Recruiting for all departments at Wye Hill Hospitality. 
  • Establish and maintain standards for performance evaluations for personnel.
  • Analytics & Data. Collecting data and information around employee performance and satisfaction in order to support decisions and initiatives for the Human Resources department. 
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees, and guests.
  • Direct and advise on Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. 
  • Assist in prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.
  • Review work procedures and operational problems to determine ways to improve service, performance, or safety.
  • May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
  • Prepares payroll for weekly processing.
  • Special projects as defined.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking to hire hosts and support staff that have an innate sense of hospitality (and the soft skills necessary to excel in that realm) and want to provide an exceptional experience to our guests. We are looking for someone who has a sense of humor and is optimistic to find success in this role. While at least 1 year of prior restaurant experience is preferred, we are willing to meet candidates who are eager to learn. ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Warmly and graciously greet all guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas.
  • Open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible.
  • Provide guests with menus and inform them of their server’s name upon seating.
  • Record guest names and the number of people in the party and provide guests with estimated waiting time when immediate seating is limited.
  • Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings.
  • Call out names and number of party when tables become available.
  • Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints, or to make conversation.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls.
  • Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers’ concerns are addressed.
  • Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
  • Inform guests of establishment specialties and features.
  • Receive and record guests’ dining reservations.
  • Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean restrooms when necessary.
  • Relay messages to servers and bussers as needed.
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
  • Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
